What is your role at Thalia?

Project Manager- I am responsible for managing various construction and refurbishments projects across Thalia. My main projects presently are at our Waterbeach and Milton Keynes Facility.

What attracted you to the Waste Treatment industry?   

I studied environmental science and the specialised in waste management, so I always knew I wanted to be involved in the waste industry I was particularly fascinated by how different countries managed their waste and how waste can be converted into a resource.

Are you passionate about waste and if yes, why?             

Poor waste management can lead to pollution of the environment. We see the effects from waste that secretes into water or ground soil destroying ecosystems. Therefore, knowing that we prevent this from happening by helping properly manage waste makes me feel proud, that I am doing my bit when it comes to protecting the environment.

What do you like most about your role?

The feeling I have when I complete a construction project, knowing the man hours, the teamwork and challenges that have been overcome to deliver to our clients. There is nothing comparable to a satisfied client and a physical result of the hard work that has been put in.

Why do you like working for this business?         

Thalia has been supportive in my journey towards being a project manager and have given me the tools and the space to grow.  I have also got to work with some very experienced and knowledgeable colleagues.

What skills does someone need to do your role?

Communication and being able to collaboratively work with people. Projects are not delivered by one person so you must be to communicate and be part of team.

What challenges have you had to overcome in either life or your role?    

The biggest challenge I have had to overcome is believing in my own accomplishments that they are deserved and have been through my efforts, skill and competence and stopping myself from feeling inadequate.

How would you describe the culture within Thalia?       

 Our colleagues are very supportive of each other and are enjoy what they do daily which is reflected by passion they bring to their roles.
