Inclusion

Inclusion

At Thalia Waste Management, we work hard to make sure we are an inclusive and diverse place to work. This means we don’t just look at your CV. We’re focused on who you are, your skills and passion that can be brought to Thalia Waste Management. We know and understand the everyone is different and has a life outside work, so we’re happy to discuss flexible working and any adjustments that could be needed! We’ll do all that we can to support everyone from their first contact with us. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, sex, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We will make sure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable adjustments to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.

Disability Confident

As a Disability Confident organisation we're playing our role in changing attitudes for the better. We’re changing our behaviour and culture in our own business, networks and communities, and seeing the benefits of inclusive recruitment. The Disability Confident scheme helps us recruit and retain great people, by:

  • Drawing from the widest possible pool of talent
  • Securing high quality staff who are skilled, loyal and hard working
  • Improving employee morale and commitment by demonstrating that you treat all employees fairly

We’re challenging attitudes towards disability.

To help you smash through the barriers between you and your dream job, we’ll guarantee you an interview if you have a disability – as long as you’re qualified for the role.

So not only can you trust us to help you start a rewarding career here, but you can also expect all the support you need to make the most of it.

Words without action isn’t enough

We’re working hard to address race in the workplace, to create an inclusive workplace for all our employees. We support Black History Month and Race Equality Week. We’re signed up to the Race Equality Charter and we also provide Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training and awareness, and development sessions to all employees.

Proud of our Pride Community

When you come to work, we want you to be yourself and feel empowered to express your ideas. We build an environment that's safe and inclusive of lesbian, gay, bi, and trans people and their allies. We give everyone a voice, considering every perspective and catering for every need in the LGBTA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allies) community.

Levelling the playing field

We have inspirational women working at every level of our business – it’s a good start, but it’s not good enough. We’re working fiercely to draw more women into our ranks, to support them through progression, and to keep them at Thalia for as long as we can by creating an environment that helps them thrive. This will make an impact for generations to come in industries such as engineering, where the proportion of women is sadly very low.
