Waste Education Experience

Waste Education Experience

We have an on-site education and visitor centre, offering talks, tours and waste related activities for residents, schools and community groups.

Schools, colleges and universities

Students can find out what happens to rubbish after they throw it away. Sessions include recycling and waste-related activities, as well as the opportunity to take part in a site tour to view our state-of-the-art waste treatment technology.

Visits are available for students at Key Stage 2, 3 and 4. We offer session plans and activities linking into the science, geography and citizenship curriculum.

We also welcome further and higher education students.

Sessions usually run at 10am and 2pm and last around 2 hours but we can tailor the visit to suit school requirements. We have a range of Key Stage, 2, 3 and 4 and adult packages available. Please specify age groups when booking. Larger groups can be accommodated on request.

A visit to your school from our Education officer

We also offer free visits from our Education officer, who can come to your school for an assembly or workshop with pupils in KS2,KS3 and KS4.

KS2 Interactive talk about Recycling with an optional art/DT project

Take the pledge!

We can all do our bit to help the environment and here at AWRP we encourage everyone to think about reducing, reusing and recycling their waste.  By reducing, reusing and recycling we can cut the impact of our carbon footprint.

Why don't you make a pledge to stop using carrier bags, plastic straws or single use plastics. Find out how much CO2 we could save over a year by making small changes on our pledge site here.
