Thalia waste leaders of the future
Apprenticeships are a great way to learn new skills, gain recognised qualifications, and advance your career.
It’s a chance to engage and excel in your career and make a positive change to communities across the UK. All funded by your employer!
While the term ‘apprentice’ may suggest a young person starting on-the-job trade training, the reality is very different.
Apprenticeships are not limited to career starters, young people, or practical work.
Today’s apprenticeships span entry level to senior management and physical work to desk-based jobs.
Thalia Learning and Development Manager, Diane Conway said: “There are hundreds of subjects to choose from. We have several people who will finish their apprenticeships with an MBA.”
Here at Thalia, we have colleagues currently undertaking a wide range of apprenticeship qualifications. These include Management & Leadership, Data Analytics, Accounting, Health & Safety and Business Improvement to name but a few.
We asked some of our apprentices why they decided to do an apprenticeship with Thalia Waste Management.
Matthew Kempster, Level 3 Safety, Health, and Environments Technician apprentice, said: “I feel that working within the Health Safety, Environment and Quality team complements my role as a lab tech and I am looking forward to learning whilst gaining invaluable experience and a qualification.”
Maintenance Engineering Level 3 apprentice. Jonathan Hogben added: “I wanted to increase my practical knowledge of the maintenance tasks carried out on site.”
Fiona Wright, a Level 3 Diploma in Management apprentice said: "I was given an opportunity to start an apprenticeship and chose to grasp it.
“It is enabling me to progress within an industry I am passionate about and allows me to develop new skills and qualities.”
