Showing their support to the millions of people who are grieving across the nation right now, Thalia Waste Management is supporting the UK’s National Day of Reflection on Thursday 23 March 2023.
For the third year, end of life charity Marie Curie is uniting the nation on 23 March to remember loved ones who’ve died, and support everyone who is grieving. Many of us feel unsupported in our grief or feel unable to talk about our loved one who has died. This was particularly felt during the pandemic when many people were forced to grieve alone. The National Day of Reflection unites us all in grief, providing much needed connection and emotional support to all.
Thalia is proud to be asking our people to mark the minute’s silence at midday on 23 March, if they are able to, to give its staff the opportunity to share names of loved ones who have died and remember memories on a Wall of Reflection and encouraging staff to join Marie Curie’s online events programme to help them in their grief.
Sarah Moyo, Thalia Director of People and Communications said: “Our people matter to us every day and we know that sometimes it can be difficult to balance work and home life. This can be made so much harder by grief.
“Through our Employee Assistance Programme, we provide our people with access to a 24-hour helpline where calls are handled by an experienced therapist or advisor. The programme offers help and advice on a range of issues from bereavement to housing concerns, legal information, to name but a few.
“Our Mental Health First Aiders are also at each of our sites and can offer support in a friendly, non-judgmental manner. Our thoughts and care are with everyone missing someone now and tomorrow (23 March 2023) is a time for us all to reflect.”
Marie Curie is the UK’s end of life charity, providing essential nursing and hospice care for people with any terminal illness, a free support line and a wealth of information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement.
On the National Day of Reflection Marie Curie is leading a minute’s silence at midday, encouraging people to support each other through nationwide Walls of Reflection and providing free practical and informative support through a series of grief themed online events.
