THALIA BEGINS NEW CONTRACT TO TREAT WASTE ON BEHALF OF WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNCIL

We are pleased to announce that Thalia Waste Management has begun a new 15-year contract to treat and dispose of approximately 80,000 tonnes of West Northamptonshire Council’s residual waste.
Going live today, 1 April 2025, the contract extends the scope of services Thalia will be providing to West Northamptonshire Council to include the operation and management of the Brackmills Transfer Station.
Following the recovery of recyclable materials, residual waste will primarily be transported to Milton Keynes Waste Recovery Park (MKWRP) for treatment using the facility’s innovative gasification technology, which is operated by Thalia. Treating the waste this way aligns with West Northamptonshire Council’s desire to divert more than 95% of its waste away from landfill and minimise the carbon emissions associated with the delivery of waste services.
Thalia has a long-standing relationship with West Northamptonshire having provided Residual Waste Treatment and Disposal services to the area since 2013.
Paco Hevia, CEO Thalia Waste Management said:
“We are delighted to have been awarded this contract. It is testament to the excellent service Thalia has provided to West Northamptonshire since 2013, and the Council’s confidence in Thalia’s ability to reliably operate the gasification technology at MKWRP. We look forward to continuing to work with West Northamptonshire Council and to providing it with a low-carbon, high quality solution for the treatment and disposal of its residual waste over the life of the contract.”
